A Simply Colorful Beachball Quilt

If you’ve been in our shop before, you have probably seen this quilt hanging up (only very recently replaced by the Splendid Sampler quilt). Marcelle made this one with the Simply Colourful II range (yet another V & Co. favourite!), using a free pattern from the Moda Bakeshop (although it appears that pattern has been removed now).

I love the colours in this one – it’s quite striking! But what I really love is the quilting. Sometimes fussy quilting can take away from the beautiful piecing in a quilt, but in this instance, it adds a gorgeous new dimension to it.

This quilt is a lot easier to piece together when you have the right tools as well. Marcelle used a 60 degree ruler, which made cutting those perfect triangles for the hexies a breeze. We still have some of these rulers in the shop if you think they might help with your next adventure!

Hope you all had a lovely Easter! We’re enjoying the last of this beautiful autumn weather before winter sinks it’s claws in!
